Shop Small And Make A BIG Difference
Small Business Saturday was created by American Express in 2010 for the purpose of encouraging people to "shop small" during the holidays. Sandwiched between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Small Business Saturday makes a big difference to the bottom line of independently owned businesses, but it has become less about big profits and more about building community and educating shoppers about the importance of supporting the small businesses in their own backyard.

Make Your Impact
You may not realize it, but every time you sit down and purchase a coffee at your neighborhood spot, or buy from a local artist on your street, you're shopping small and making a difference! Not to mention you are contributing to keeping local businesses open in these trying times.
Though the definition of a small business will fluctuate based on industry, generally speaking, the SBA defines small businesses as businesses with fewer than 500 employees. According to that standard, small businesses make up a whopping 99.7% of all US employers.
